Children

Children aren’t just the future of the church, they are the present! At FCC, intergenerational faith formation is one of our key values, and children are encouraged to participate in worship services and fellowship events. We also offer developmentally appropriate spaces for children to learn about and get closer to God, such as Children Worship & Wonder (see below for more information) and Wednesday evening classes for children ages 5 and up. 

Children Worship & Wonder
Children Worship and Wonder (CWW) is a worship-centered approach to the faith formation of small children. Children ages 4 through 2nd grade are invited to leave worship service after the Children’s Chat and worship with others their own age. The program uses Montessori principles to introduce children to the essentials of worship: prayer, Bible study, music, reflection and communion. Parents are invited to come and observe at any time. In addition to Children Worship & Wonder and intergenerational Sunday worship, our primary current programming for children and youth happens on Wednesday nights from 6-7:30. We gather first for a meal, and then parents break off for an adult class while children and youth are led in fun, thoughtful, interactive activities that promote Christian learning and a close relationship with God and with one another. Some of these activities may happen in a larger group with all young people together, and many involve breaking off into smaller groups for age-appropriate discussion and learning. Wednesday nights finish off with a time of worship, sharing of "high's and low's" from the week, and prayer. On a regular basis we also engage in intergenerational activities and service projects, such as putting together food bags for the Amen House, visiting a local long-term care facility, and serving a meal at the Gathering Place Mission.
